Ruben Salcido - composer/arranger/sax/flute

When Ruben was 12 he heard his older brother's recording of Miles Davis's "Kind of Blue". Hooked on the sound, he started a band called the Seven Saints, and has been playing Jazz ever since.   He began to compose and arrange music while in high school.  In college, Ruben was a member of the "Best Combo of the Year" in the West Coast collegiate Jazz festival.   He continues his musical odyssey playing with various groups in the Bay Area, drawing inspiration from his fellow musicians.

Currently:

• Saxophone and Flute for Safari.
• Lead saxophone for Silicon Valley's Full Spectrum Jazz, a high energy 18 piece big band, playing contemporary arrangements from local and international composers and arrangers.
• Leader of the Pacifica All Stars, a 10 piece jazz band performing original compositions and arrangements by its members.
• Leader of his own Latin Jazz group, performing all original music.
